Chrysler Pacifica Vs. Toyota Sienna: Which Minivan Is Better?
February 10 2025 - Montrose Chrysler

Families looking for a spacious, comfortable, capable minivan often consider the Chrysler Pacifica vs. Toyota Sienna. Both models offer all-wheel drive, modern technology, and family-friendly features. However, they cater to different priorities.

The Pacifica shares a traditional V6 engine, smooth handling, and versatile cargo solution. The Sienna relies on a hybrid powertrain, delivering impressive fuel efficiency.

Understanding how these minivans compare in performance, interior space, and driving experience can help buyers make the right choice. This breakdown highlights key differences to guide your decision.

Performance and Powertrain

The Chrysler Pacifica comes with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces 287 horsepower. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels, with available all-wheel drive for added traction. This setup delivers a refined and predictable driving experience. The traditional mechanical AWD system engages when needed, helping maintain control on wet or slippery roads.

The Toyota Sienna uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, combining an engine and electric motors for 245 horsepower. It pairs with an electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and an on-demand all-wheel-drive system. While the hybrid setup improves fuel efficiency, it sacrifices some acceleration and power.

Fuel Economy and Efficiency

Fuel economy is a major advantage for the Sienna. The hybrid system helps it achieve an EPA-estimated 35 mpg combined, making it one of the most efficient minivans on the market. The ability to drive longer distances on a single tank benefits families who take frequent road trips.

The Pacifica AWD, powered by a V6, receives an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined. While this is lower than the Sienna, it offers a more engaging driving experience. A plug-in hybrid Pacifica is available for those prioritizing fuel savings, but this version does not include all-wheel drive.

Interior Comfort and Cargo Space

The Chrysler Pacifica offers Stow ‘n Go® seating, a standout feature not found in the Sienna. This system folds the second and third-row seats flat into the floor, creating a spacious and level cargo area. With 140.5 cubic feet of total cargo space, it easily accommodates large loads.

The Toyota Sienna, while spacious, does not have fold-flat second-row seats. Instead, they slide forward and backward to increase legroom or cargo flexibility. The total cargo capacity reaches 101 cubic feet, significantly less than the Pacifica.

Driving Experience and Ride Quality

The Pacifica delivers a smooth and quiet ride, with a well-tuned suspension that absorbs road imperfections. The V6 engine supplies steady power, making highway merging and passing easier. Handling feels responsive for a vehicle of this size, and visibility is excellent.

The Sienna, designed for efficiency, feels firmer and noisier on the road. The hybrid powertrain operates smoothly but lacks the immediate power of the Pacifica’s V6. Some drivers notice a slight delay in acceleration, particularly with a full passenger load.

Technology and Features

Both minivans offer modern infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and touchscreen displays. The Pacifica features an 8.4-inch Uconnect® system, known for its ease of use and fast response. The available rear-seat entertainment system engages passengers with built-in screens and streaming capabilities.

The Sienna’s infotainment system includes a 9-inch touchscreen, but the interface is less intuitive. It offers similar connectivity options but lacks the streamlined functionality of Uconnect®. Rear-seat entertainment is available on higher trims but does not offer as many features.
